The Dayton Art Institute seeks a Grants and Research Officer to maintain the grants pipeline, reporting calendar, and conduct research to further advance the museum’s collections, exhibitions, programs, and strategic initiatives. The Officer pursues grant opportunities and funding from government agencies, corporations, foundations, and other sources to meet the museum's annual goals and strategic initiatives.
Reporting to the Development Director, the Officer is the primary staff person responsible for administering and securing grants; research, planning, prospecting, and grant stewardship; proposal development, writing and submission; tracking, acknowledgement, and fulfillment; budget management; and ensuring that all grants and reports are prepared, well-written and submitted on-time as required by the funder. Additional responsibilities include preparing follow-up and thank you letters and other grant-related documents.
Teamwork, collaboration, and time management are critical for success.
This is a part-time, 24 hour per week, non-supervisory position and the hourly rate will be commensurate with education, experience, and any additional qualifications. The DAI requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or request and receive approval for a medical or religious exemption from the vaccine.

Requirements
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional grant writing and storytelling experience a must, preferably in a small to medium size organization, non-profit and/or cultural arts related organization. Broad knowledge of museum trends a plus.
- A self-starter who is creative and possesses an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to gather information accurately and efficiently through interviews and other means and quickly grasp the concept of a project or program for which funding is sought.
- Well-organized; high attention to detail, with an ability to manage several projects simultaneously, under strict deadlines and often under pressure
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, prospect research tools, fundraising databases (Altru, etc.)
- Strong commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality

- Knowledge of American Sign Language; fluent in Spanish or other language(s) desired.
